Exercising, in general, is great for your cardiovascular system. It increase your heart rate and gets your blood pumping through your body.

It’s no secret that exercising keeps our hearts in great shape and that it lowers blood pressure, but let’s be honest… some of us don’t enjoy exercise that requires strict discipline and that’s okay!

Is there another way of maintaining a heart healthy lifestyle without these strict regimens?

One word… DANCING!

A question I get often is ” How can dancing keep my heart healthy ?”

Well my friend, you may be surprised to find out there’s a lot going on in the body when you dance!

Dancing is a low-impact aerobic workout which is a fancy way of saying it’s a cardio workout.

When you dance,  you move your limbs ALLOT  which in turn, gets your heart pumping without having to get on the dreaded treadmill at the gym. (Let’s face it, dancing is much more fun than getting on a treadmill for an hour.  Maybe try finding some lessons at your local ballroom to give it a try!)

There are many colleges/ universities and sometimes even religious organizations that host dance lessons and events for people of all ages that are at many different levels. From beginners to advanced, there’s something for everyone.

So why not sign up for a lesson? You may be surprised to find out you can get quite a workout from dancing.

And hey, you may even come to find you have a new hobby (:
